Manhattan Fish Market, Pavilion KL Food Review

Never knew Manhattan Fish Market existed at Pavilion and when I went looking for it at the directory, it's nowhere to be found. About 30 minutes later, I discovered where it was and was greeted by a French Crab as I walked in to the table of bloggers.
The rest were pretty much engrossed with the picture taking while I bemused myself by sneaking up to the table quietly without letting out a peep.

Frankly speaking, I'm not a seafood person but I do take some sort of seafood like boneless fish, oysters, squids and octopuses, some mussels but prawns and crabs were out of my repertoire since I'm lazy to peel shells and the taste just isn't what I like. I do look a tad horrified having a crab to have a staredown with me.

Anyway, I poked a few pokes on the French Crab to just have a little taste of it. By the way, crabs are not on Manhattan Fish Market's new menu. It's only available at Pavilion and Ampang Park for a limited time and limited quantity so, if there is and it's up for sale, you're in luck to order it to try.

Whilst most of us oogle at the crab and it's meat, I went for the taste of the Oyster Roulette (RM14.90):
These are poached oysters with some nice spicy chillies in the mix where you're supposed to squeeze the lemon in and drink the shooter down one shot. One of the shooter is loaded extra in it's spiciness but I just love the mixture of it and this is by far my favorite of the night.

We also had this salad called the Summer Shroom (RM17.50):
Summer Shroom contains marinated mushrooms. Yes, it's not cooked, just marinated and served. Yet, it's tasty enough and not overpowering. There's some roasted sunflower seeds, cherry tomatoes and greens and some cranberries as well. I'm not a salad person so this is just okay for me.

This is what's called a Fishy Chicky Bang Bang (RM20.90):
When you're an indecisive person and can't decide whether to eat chicken or fish, now you can have both at one go! Fishy Chicky Bang Bang is a dish that is half chicken fillet and half dory fish all slapped together with some cheddar cheese. It's with a sunny side up egg on a fried spaghetti nest. That fried spaghetti is hard. Fries is sprinkled with some chili powder which is how I like those things. Just not enough. The group took so long to finish photographing this, the egg turned stone cold. Ah well. Can't win em all.

Here's the French Crab all cut up and ready for eating.
I just love that spicy sauce that goes with the crab. It's so addictive. It's a little like sambal, only not as thick a paste as sambal but has that kind of heat to it. There's also another addictive sauce that goes with the crabs and that's in the next picture with the King Crab.
It's the butter sauce. It's so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, addictive! It has a mild garlic taste to it so it's like garlic butter which is one of my favorite thing. I was also educated on the King Crab. The meat section on the body was meh to me. But then I was told to eat the leg section and it totally changed my perception on it. The meaty part at the leg section is sweet just eating on it's own. Add it to the addictive sauce and it becomes a sweet addictive crab. Yummilicious.

This is the Grilled Glory Dory of Manhattan Fish Market:
Unlike other places dory fish which is all limpy, the dory fish at Manhattan Fish Market has a firmer texture and to me is much better tasting. It's served with a fragrant garlic herb sauce and some vegetables. Broccoli and carrots goes well with the dory fish.

Fried Giant Sharing Platter (RM57.90):
Loads of fried goodness. There's prawns (which I don't eat), fish fingers, cherry snapper fillets, battered onion strips (the thing I love the most in this platter) and calamari coated with crushed peanuts. 4 sauces are served with it which are Cajun Honey Mustard, Smoky Chipotle, Tartar sauce and Onion Glory Dip.

Another sharing platter tried.
This is called the Volcano Island. With Slipper Lobster (which is the one above) costs RM57.90 while with prawns will cost RM55.90. What I like about this platter the most is the Murray Curry. It's a curry that tasted like it has Indian influence to it but is not spicy. It's savory to me. Other items in this platter are fried scallops, poached spicy dory nuggets, Volcano Mussels and baguette which is great to dip with the curry.

Desserts! Super Fruit Crumble (RM8.90):
Double scoop of Vanilla ice cream with apple sauce, crunchy crumbled cookies and cranberries on top. Nice.

Strawberry Flamin-Go (RM8.90):
It's mango pudding with fresh strawberries and chocolate sauce. Before serving to you:
The marshmallows on top are torched/flamed for awhile. Well, actually, it didn't do much for the taste for me. Tasted like normal marshmallows without the roasted taste.

Manhattan Fish Market has 50 restaurants in Asia and the Middle East. For the Pavilion KL branch, it's located at:
