Purple Pasta Restaurant & Cafe, Oasis Square, Ara Damansara Food Review

The name immediately captures my attention when my friend relate it to me for trial. "Purple pasta?" I resounded in my mind. I amuse myself with the visualization of a purple pasta dish everytime that name pops up in my mind.
Situated in a place where I frequent, I've never ventured to this part of Oasis Square in my life and was elated with joy to discover that there were some eateries over here.

Of course, Purple Pasta is not just a place that serves pasta but other types of Western cuisine as well and you'll get to see some of it later on here. :P

The front of the place may look plain and ordinary, but one section of it inside is beautiful in it's decor and seems comfy and cozy. The coffee section of it's menu seemed confusing at first to me, but I eventually figured it out after analyzing it for awhile. And that's where I settled for a Hazelnut Latte:
The coffee was alright and was smooth but I didn't get much Hazelnut taste in it when I was drinking it.

So then begun with the Lunch Menu.

The Lunch Menu is a lesser filling portion of the Dinner Menu but nevertheless would suffice my hunger pangs should I had breakfast. LOL.

This is the Garden Salad (RM8):
Some lettuce, cherry tomatoes, croutons, Parmesan Cheese, arugula thrown in the mix and some mayonnaise to dress it. As you may already know, I'm not a salad fan but this one is okay to me. It may be smaller in portion than other places but it only costs RM8 which is cheap.

The Garden Salad wasn't the only thing that cheap to consume in this restaurant. The Pasta dishes are too. It only costs a mere RM5 and I kid you not!

Lamb Marinara (RM5):
Basically, spaghetti with a lamb meatball. The lamb meatball taste great and I'm very much satisfied with the tomato sauce also the ratio of the sauce and spaghetti. Again, sure the portion is smaller than a normal pasta dish but adequate enough to be a filler for me for the afternoon so that I don't doze off in the office from a heavy meal. What's more it's only RM5!

We tried one more pasta dish and it was the Authentic Carbonara (RM5):
Unlike other Carbonara, this isn't with loads of creamy sauce. In fact, it's as dry as an Aglia Olio and is a no cream Carbonara. But I love the idea of the egg yolk flowing onto the spaghetti which adds flavor to it. Herbs and black pepper adds a little kick into it.

After the 3 dishes, we proceeded with the Dinner Menu.
During my visit, the dinner menu has not been released yet and was a trial run. However, if anyone would like to try any of the dishes, it would only be on a reservation basis to ensure the quality and the presentation of the food.

Since the dinner menu was still in the works, prices were not available.

Prawn Ceviche:
I love the harmony of this dish where all the components of this dish seem to go well together. I like the raw prawn which is quite refreshing when you consume it.

Salmon Tartare:
This dish was very well presented and the taste is not bad too. The salmon and the apples in there are also quite refreshing like the Prawn Ceviche earlier though not as much as that but still gives you a cool sensation.

This is the Stuffed Chicken:
It is chicken stuffed with Spinach and Walnut on top of a mashed potato mixed in with mashed pumpkin and cheddar cheese on the chicken. I feel that it looks greater than it taste. From the visual impact, I probably felt that it should taste better than how it is but I wouldn't say it's bad. It just lacks the excitement in taste but is enough for a passing grade from me.

This unique dish here is called the Salmon Beurre Blanc:
Although I love the salmon but I'm not sure I can relate the same to the sauce combining with the pasta. Maybe because I'm not use to the taste of a sweet sauce with a pasta dish. I've tried teriyaki sauce with pasta before but then again teriyaki sauce contains some saltiness in it's taste among the sweetness. Overall, I just find it weird to taste sweetness in a pasta sauce like a dessert.

This is called Prawn Thermidor:
It's a dish that I would say not bad. Beneath the layer of Thermidor Sauce and Foam lies grilled prawns. Weirdly, although I quite like this dish, I like the Blanch Asparagus the most at the bottom!

Fra Diavolo:
Despite it's almost one color appearance, this dish is delicious. The mutton was tender and juicy and the flavor of the sauce is unique edging towards Indian kind of taste. It's a little spicy due to the chili flakes and I had a shock when they mentioned that there's dark chocolate in the sauce as well! Savory with a little bit of heat in it.

Yes, good for the working lunch crowd as it's cheap and not too filling till you fall asleep. Of course, guys may need to have something a bit more. LOL
