Japanese Street Food Promotion at Sushi King

Before Raya, where was the most memorable place that you went to "buka puasa"? Well, as for me, I didn't fast so I never did break fast when it was time. LOL.
However, I was at Sushi King, Sunway Pyramid last week and it was during that time where people were just starting to break fast that day. I saw restaurants after restaurants packed to the brim with no place left.

When I arrived at Sushi King, there were even more patrons with many waiting in line for their turn to be seated. I was glad that I'm fortunate to have a place waiting for me to savor their Japanese Street Food offerings.
And that was the sole purpose of me being there. Sushi King's Japanese Street Food Promotion is running till the end of August which is in line with Summer in Japan. Japanese street food is always a familiar sight during festivals where there are many stalls set up.

This is what I had.

Started off with some Spicy Edamame (RM4):
It's simple. Just chili flakes on the Edamame but yet the extra spice provided as you bite the skin to get the beans out had me eating away the whole plate. It's that addictive and it's just RM4 per plate!

Spicy Salmon Nigiri (RM5):
This too is with some chili flakes on top with the wetness edging it almost sambal like. Unlike the Spicy Edamame, this wasn't as addictive to me. Yes, I like Salmon Sushi but to me, it tastes better with Wasabi in Shoyu rather than the chili flakes. Still, it might be different with you.

Unagi Nigiri:
This isn't exactly a new seasonal item. It's the same Unagi Nigiri with it's same good taste that you see on the conveyer belts. The only difference with the seasonal promotion is that instead of RM6 per plate, it will be priced at RM5 per plate till the promotion ends.

Kushiage Moriawase (RM11.90):
Five different deep fried skewers served with Okonomi Sauce. The deep fried items are prawn, scallop, chicken nugget, mushroom and long beans. Basically, the Okonomi sauce is what gives it an edge in taste.

Pumpkin Tempura (RM5):
This is not a new thing. I've tried this before when I was reviewing their Rice Burgers ( It's back due to popular demand. The difference between now and the previous time I tried is that it tasted a lot more delicious that what I can remember. This time I can taste a little more salt on in which deceives my tongue into thinking something a little like pumpkin fries. It was so good that I had another plate by my own again.

This here is the Kushiage Bento (RM16.90):
It consists of deep fried salmon steak and Japanese style deep fried skewered prawn, scallop, chicken nugget, mushroom and long beans with Okonomi sauce.

Takoyaki Tempura (RM6.90):
Breaded with Tempura batter, it provides an outer layer crunch before the deep fried octopus ball inside. It's topped with Okonomi sauce and mayonnaise. A little disappointed with this. Probably because I've tasted really great Takoyaki before that's made by a Japanese friend. That's probably the best and nothing I've ever tasted in restaurants nor shops that come even close to it.

Beef/Chicken Tonpei Yaki:
We were provided with both Chicken and beef to try. It's a dish that contains shredded cabbage inside as well. It's sprayed with mayonnaise and Okonomi sauce on top. Personally, I prefer the beef more. To me, it excites my taste buds more with a lot more going on than the chicken. Costs RM9.90.

This here is Chicken Yaki Udon (RM13.90):
Japanese wheat noodles fried with Okonomi sauce and mixed vegetables with deep fried chicken nuggets in the mix.

Ramune (RM6.90):
I've tried this before once and it tasted like soda water to me. I don't know how it taste to me this time around because I have yet to open it and it's still in my fridge. LOL.

The seasonal items and promotions will only be around till 31 August 2014 so if you wanna try it, do so before the date.

It has been quite some time since I last ate at Sushi King. Used to be my fav but no longer today. :)

You should have it backwards because it use to taste horrible but now they've improved. LOL.

It's addictive to me.
