Free Birds (2013) Movie Review

Genre: Animation, Comedy
Language: English
Voice Stars: Owen Wilson, Woody Harrelson, Amy Poehler
 Story (may contain spoilers!):
Reggie is a turkey in the modern day with very different views of Thanksgiving as oppose to all the other turkeys. Reggie always tries to inform the other turkeys that they are kept for their demise while the others believed that everything is corn-tastic and when they were being carried away for the slaughter, they're being taken to turkey paradise. Because of such differing views, Reggie has always been more of an outcast.

One day, the turkeys realized that Reggie was right all along and decided to throw him as a sacrifice in order to save themselves. But little did they know, it was actually a ceremony that's going on where the President will pardon one turkey from being the feast for Thanksgiving. The President's daughter insisted Reggie to be the pardoned turkey and so, Reggie was took along the private helicopter to Camp David. There Reggie led a wonderful life with cable television and pizzas.

One night, Reggie was abducted by Jake, who's the only turkey in the Turkeys' Liberation Front - a movement who's on a secret mission to find the time machine and travel back in time to take turkeys off the menu. Reggie tries hard to get away from Jake but no matter how he tried, he just can't get away from Jake.

So Reggie and Jake went into the governments secret lab where they were about to experiment with the time machine.

When Reggie and Jake went into the the area where the egg-shaped time machine is, the area was considered contaminated and the time machine experiment was aborted so the recipient in the time machine exited the contraption as fast as he can while Reggie whisked away by Jake were moving in as fast as they can.

The egg-shaped time machine with an AI software called STEVE (Space Time Exploration Vehicle Envoy) than lift off away from earth and then asked where do they want to head to? Jake responded to STEVE to take them to 1621 where the first thanksgiving was going to be held.

In the 17th century, Jake and Reggie wandered off to look around. But they attracted colonial hunters trying to get the turkeys as their food. Reggie and Jake was saved by the turkeys of that time and Jake soon tried to convince them to fight the colonial hunters. As for Reggie, he was lovestruck when he laid his eyes on Jenny. Watch the movie for the rest of the story!

Comments:
The movie as expected was geared more towards children. The comedy was funny but I was expecting more throughout the entire movie like how they put it in the trailer. The storyline is almost negligible since children would be more interested in watching it for it's quirkiness while the adults, well, basically there's nothing much to amuse except for some funny bits.

Rating:
I'd give it 3 stars out of 5.

PS: There's a mid credit scene shown.
