Be My Valentime - The Kelvin's Version

No, I'm not making a speed dating event of my own but rather like what I mentioned in my earlier blogpost (http://www.ktheblogger.com/2013/02/be-my-valentime-maju-junction-mall.html), the Be My Valentime speed dating event by Maju Junction Mall was held on the Saturday that past aaaaand I was a part of it:
This is the first time that I ever participated in such an event and to be frank, I was as nervous as a cat in a minefield who's too afraid to walk across but had to. The response were overwhelming until they added in an extra session in the morning. Good thing I wasn't in the morning session because I'm not really a morning person. LOL

Having a well deserved rest the night before by skipping the party at the INTI Edge festival just so I don't go home late and get to sleep early, I woke up feeling refreshed, partially thanks to the day off that I took on Friday, as well. I headed out with eager anticipation with a sense of adventure as if I'm an explorer conquering new territories.

Because of my uncertainty of how to get to the destination and how long it takes to get there (fully relied on my phone GPS. LOL) I arrived at Maju Junction Mall early. I saw a lot of signs up on the event but had no clue on where's the exact location. Scouring floor by floor, I finally arrived at the place where the speed dating event was held.

During my arrival, I was still way too early for my session which is the noon one and the 1st session was just ending but there were those from my session who were early as well and so I just hang around for awhile and consume the snacks and drinks that were laid out courtesy of Starbucks, haha:
When the time came and the 1st session ended, I boldly stepped forth and registered myself.

They passed me an indemnity form (they're not liable for damage and what not, blah, blah, blah) to sign that I agree to it. They then passed me my badge for others to identify me and a heart shaped box that look like a coin box. LOL.
As I was still fairly early till the session starts, I had a walkabout in the vicinity of the mall since I've never been here.

As the time nears, I head my way back to the area where I find very apparent nervous people around.

When the time comes to start, the rules of the Speed Dating was conveyed.

Initially the ten ladies will take their places on one of those cocktail tables with 2 bar stools.
After that, the males then proceed inside and will randomly take a spot at the cocktail tables where one of the female participants would already be seated at.

Each couple will have about 3 minutes to chat with each other hence your "speed date". No one is allowed to exchange their contact information at this juncture nor before the speed date to reduce pressure to accept or reject a suitor to the person's face
When the time is up, they will ring a bell and the couple will have to rate each other on a scale of 1 to 10 (1 being the worst and 10 the best) on a piece of paper where you will proceed to dump the piece of paper into the partner's heartshaped box.
The male participant (including moi) will then move on the the next table and will repeat the process again until everyone has been matched up.

At the end of the session, the scores are tabulated to see which 2 has compatibly rated each other the most and were treated to a makeover with dinner that night. :)

Well, it's quite a fun thing actually as humans are social creatures, even a quiet one like me. :)

I may not have found "The One" nor had a free meal with a date that night but I would say the session ended well where even after results were announced, everyone kinda just stuck around and chatted with each other making new friends. If you like to meet new people while trying your luck on finding a suitable partner and you don't get to socialize much, this is the kinda event you would want to participate in. True story!

Seriously, no numbers? I wouldn't mind going for this if I'm single. Something fresh from clubbing for a change.

@Tony
You may exchange numbers after the session ends. In fact, some did. Because the main point is not to just find a companion, but also to make some new friends.

It's definitely different from the clubbing scene. You get the closeness in the club but in an event like this, you get a lot of nervous people who's really shy. LOL
