Facekara Karaoke, Viva Home

In my lifetime, I've only been to a karaoke session ONCE. That was the time, after my colleagues wedding, being a bit tipsy and not sure what I was doing, I somehow out of the spur of a moment, decided to join some of my colleagues to go for 2nd round at a territory unfamiliar to me (whatever possessed me to do so must be really powerful to move me to do something like that.)

Anyway, I looooove to sing (or rather shout. LOL.) So when I was presented with the opportunity to torture my friends with my awful singing with this karaoke session at Facekara, I jumped at it:

The outlet that I went to is located at Viva Home Shopping Mall, a place where I've passed by countless of times to send a dear friend home but never been inside ever. And so, the visit to Facekara has broke my virgin visit to this driven to make your home a more cozy place.

Anyway, the entrance of the outlet:

Immediately at the back from the entrance sits the large Facekara main hall:

Also known as the Lounge area, this is where every Thursday from 6pm till midnight will be Ladies Night. Ladies will get to enjoy free 1 cocktail.

But the rooms are where I was headed to sing the night away.
There are 5 room categories, Small Room, Medium Room, Large Room, VIP Room and VVIP room, where each of the rate is different as listed from the table below (click to view a bigger picture):

Here's how a typical VIP room looks like:

The VIP and VVIP rooms are equipped with a woofer.
And here's the grand VVIP room with a 'view' outdoors. LOL

Notice the disco ball lights above. haha.
The other VVIP room is equipped with a projector.

At the room that we're in, there were already this 2 occupants in it:

They're surely are the earliest there with Henry aka Clevermunkey outside to make sure nobody misses the turning to our room.

The screen selection for songs are touch screen so you don't need to use the remote from far.

Anyway, it would be ridiculous to use the remote from where we were sitting. You'd have to squint really bad to see the screen.
The few warming up to some songs:

We also had some delectable munchies to enjoy while our time there. That of course, was my dinner even though it's 9pm. This is fish, so I presume a little deviation of being a fish and chips?

And this is chicken chop:

This is my dinner, Teriyaki Chicken Rice:

Didn't try this but it looks tasty:

Spaghetti Bolognese:

Some fried chicken:

and the kung pou chicken rice:

They have a few promotions, do check out their website www.facekara.com to know more on their promotions.
They also cater for events, dinner, birthday, private party...etc...etc. Hence the big lounge area.

Someone had brought to my attention on the negative feedback on the outlet that was posted on foursquare. Not sure how true those allegations are but the time and experience we were there were okay. We had fun, we laughed and we sang. Funniest part I remembered was the video for Foo Fighters' All My Life. They were showing beautiful videos on nature and animals which so does not fit the song. I really LOL when I saw the kangaroos playing with each other during the song.

One more thing. In addition to Facekara's promotions, www.mycoupon.com.my will be having a Facekara promotion too! 80% off which translates to RM33 of 4 hours singing with 4 drinks for a pax of 4. Normal price is RM160.90. So check out the deal soon if you're planning for a visit to Facekara.

Fahrenheit88's Mad Hatters Night Of Fashion 2012

♪ It was a clear black night, a clear white moon ♪
Went over to Pavilion KL on Thursday, 22 March, 2012 for the Fahrenheit88's Mad Hatters Night of Fashion 2012 event. Confused at 1st on the location because it's Fahrenheit88's fashion showcase but yet it was held in Pavilion. Doubts cleared when saw the invitation stating the venue.

Smack dabbed in the middle where F1 fever was still high, the stage was set for fashion aficionados to get a glimpse of the fashion style that Fahrenheit88 had to over.

Well, not much of a fashion show even though it was supposed to be the highlight, models just paraded and sashayed on stage showing off the Mad Hatters fashion style for a brief session.

Later on, a performance by a duo in remembrance of the late singer Fong Fei Fei:

along with one more singer where they later combined:

There were also a best dressed or rather best HAT of the evening where a guy and a gal get awarded with RM1000 cash voucher.

Somehow, the main attraction has turned out to be the mad bag rush where the audience (that's us) were to "rush" back to Fahrenheit88 to draw for a handbag absolutely free~
Yup, started off slow with people just walking. LOL.

But when they got to the traffic light, there were some that were actually running (hey, it's every aunties dream come true getting a free handbag XD)

Look at the long queue:

Oh I got one too. So embarrassing to walk and carry it around while girls staring and envying it. >.<

I'm officially ~*SISSIFIED*~ Argh!

After the bag rush thing, most people just hang around or disperse off to their homes. Wonder if there were other performances or such back at Pavilion?! But I'm sure everyone would just assume that it's over. Common sense, right? haha

The Hunger Games (2012) Movie Review

Based on the book for teenagers of the same name, I'm actually VERY familiar with this title. During that period, I was working for the book publishing company that came out with this book, The Hunger Games, but of course I wasn't really interested in reading it.

Now that it's translated into a movie, I went to watch it to see what's it about and the anticipation that led up to it (when the book was published at that time, one of the campaign that hyped it up was the card game collection which as I vaguely recall, you'll even get prizes if you complete certain collection).

The Hunger Games was about a yearly event called Hunger Games, where one boy and one girl within the age range of 12 to 18 years old will be picked from each of the 12 districts to participate in this event where they will fight to the death in the game of survival till there is only one left, that will be the victor. This is done to be in commemoration of the Capitol city which is the most advanced of them all and the ruling state over all the districts for calling a peace treaty on all instead of conquering over all districts and killing everyone off and so the boy and the girl from each district is actually a tribute (and that's what it's called) for the Capitol city. The Hunger Games is to provide entertainment for the viewers of the Capitol City just like the Olympics or the gladiator fights during Roman times, only this involves teenagers and is the survival of the fittest with only one victor.

Participants of the Hunger Games or tributes from each district are selected randomly by drawing the names from a bowl. In the movie, it was the 1st year where the name of Primrose Everdeen was to be in it and she was very afraid to be picked (you would to if you were pit to fight for your life!) even though the odds are low. But somehow, during the drawing of the names, her's was picked to represent district 12. Out of desperation to protect her young sister, Katniss Everdeen volunteered to become the tribute for the Hunger Games representing District 12, being the 1st ever to volunteer. And so it began, the journey to the Capitol to start off an adventure which could be her last to become victorious in the Hunger Games.

This movie mimics a bloodied and gory image of the movie, Arena (which was an awesome one!), but had to be kept PG due to being more of a target audience of teenagers. Because of this, there's not much action in it that could really thrill the audience like Arena does which is quite disappointing to me. Sure there are one or two moments of goriness, but it's not really to my taste and frankly speaking, it was quite boring for me. Perhaps teenagers might like this? Also, the show never had much of a storyline to build on despite creating a whole new world for it's settings and never even elaborate on the strength and weakness of the main characters of the movie which could very well make the movie more interesting as how Superhero movies do.

To me, it was a yawn fest which I could hardly keep my attention to the screen and the interesting moments were minimal (well, at least there were interesting moments). Maybe young ones would enjoy it. I don't know. Maybe I'm too old for this. LOL. But I'm pretty sure the book would be way better than the movie even though I've never read it. I give it 2.5 stars out of 5.

P.S.: I must congratulate my former company though, on the success of the book even on Malaysian shores.

Things to look forward to at the showcase, the incredible, gorgeous looking cars on display, of course:

which consists of the Mercedes AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team car, the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG roadster and the Mercedes Benz CLS 350 car. Sorry that I only managed to take pictures of one car. LOL.

The showcase which is a collaboration of Mercedes-Benz Malaysia and PETRONAS Dagangan Berhad will also feature some augmented reality game activities.

A kid trying on one of the interactive game devices

This game here is called Speed of Sound:

where you're suppose to match the frequency of the pitch to make the F1 car go faster.

Notice the lines on the upper right? The orange one is the sound you make. Follow as closely as you can to the green line by sounding onto a mic.

Did you know you can win exclusive PETRONAS motorsports merchandise just by playing the game? You can even do so from the comfort of your own home (of course, you'll need something to project the sound like a mic or webcam)!

Just go to www.petmos.com.my and click on start racing today:

Then once it loads finish click on "start racing".
Be sure to press allow when this prompts up:

And you're well on your way to play the game to be in the running for the prize.

For fans of Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg, there will be a meet the fans session happening on this Wednesday, 21 March 2012 at Suria KLCC Concourse (where the showcase is). It's scheduled to be at 5pm so make your way down there to get their autographs.

Don't forget that the race will be on this Sunday, 25 March 2012 at 4pm.

As for the F1 Rocks concert scheduled to take place on the 23rd and 24th March, 2012 which features Kylie Minogue and Kelis, has been CANCELLED. Yes, CANCELLED. Official statement from the organizers, Enterprise Entertainment Ltd mentions that it's due to "unforeseen circumstances". Word is that Kylie wasn't paid? Not sure if that's true.

But fret not, as a substitute to the F1 Rocks concert, the Twin Towers @Live free concert will be taking it's place. Well, I know there most likely be no Kylie appearing, but hey, better than nothing at all, right? haha. The Twin Towers @Live concert has seen the likes of Hoobastank and Wonder Girls hitting the stage before.

Anyway, thanks to the PETRONAS motorsports team for organizing the Bloggers' Session yesterday and Sirens Media for inviting me along. There were a whole bunch of us there:

And they fed us well too at The Apartment. They even had generous amount of prizes won which included the Samsung Galaxy Note and Nokia Lumia.
Thanks again for the opportunity. I look forward to future ones!

Future Music Festival Asia 2012

So yesterday was the Future Music Festival Asia 2012.
This is not a big nor huge event, but a MASSIVE one!
Just look at the amount of acts there were:

The main highlight for me to see was Flo Rida, The Chemical Brothers and Cosmic Gate.
But unfortunately for me, they slotted Flo Rida at such an early time that I couldn't make it.

For your info, the event started at 2pm and lasts all the way down to around 2am to 3am (depending on the stage). That's a whopping 12 hours plus!

I only get to arrive at the venue which was the Sepang International Circuit at around 9pm.
There was quite a crowd at Entrance 2 with some people hanging around to see if there's anybody who has extra tickets to give. I pity some of them as they got cheated buying fake tickets.

Anyway, I was pumped up to see what's in store inside.
The layout of the place:

Didn't notice the Gnome stage on the left. Anyway, wasn't that interested in the lineup at Gnome stage:

What I was interested in is the lineup at Future stage:

As I enter, I could already see the Future stage on the right.
During that time, Pendulum was onstage.

They were sounding quite okay but I decided to have a look around elsewhere.
A station on games opposite the Future stage:

An interactive floor game where I presume you're suppose to step on those lighted platforms to gain points?

And a dress up place to look lavish and get your photo taken:

Stars galore at the Future stage section:

But over at the distance is where I wanna tread to:

Over at the Flamingo stage, a giant flamingo to landmark it:

A nice place to chill opposite the Flamingo stage:

With a boxing game in it. Play to win prizes:

A nice graffiti photo wall for your memories:

And aside from the many food vans and stall in place, they had a Ferris wheel as well:

Blink & Goldfish got me in the party mood at the Las Venus stage:

Tinie Tempah took the stage after them:

But his music wasn't of my interest. And so I head on home as I don't have my party mood anymore to wait for The Chemical Brothers. LOL.
