Titanic in 3D (2012) Movie Review

Based on the true story tragedy that occurred way back on April 15, 1912, the RMS Titanic was a ship that was deemed unsinkable which was not the case when it collided with an iceberg during it's maiden voyage and was one of the worst peacetime maritime disaster in history.

The movie released back in 1997, although was based on this tragedy, yet the storyline was in the direction of a love movie. It turned out to be one of the most epic blockbuster love story.

It started off with a team of treasure hunters in search of a diamond necklace better known as the Heart of the Ocean, very valuable and priceless lost in the sunken ship, Titanic. They brought up a safe which they thought where the diamond was kept but when they brought ashore to their ship, they found nothing except for an old piece of drawing. The treasure hunters' expedition was aired on television and so was the washing of the drawing televised where it is a drawing of a nude woman wearing the Heart of the Ocean. Rose Dawson Calvert, now in her old age, saw the news and called the treasure hunters and admitted that the woman in the drawing was her.

Out of eagerness, Brock Lovett the team lead of the treasure hunters, quickly arranged for her to be on board in hopes of getting to know of the location of the precious diamond. Rose recollect from her memories aboard the Titanic and that's when the movie starts to go into her flashback mode.

Jack was a poor person but live a life as a free spirit going wherever he wants and doing whatever he wants and lives one day at a time. Rose on the other hand, comes from a supposedly wealthy family but when her father died, she and her mother had nothing but debts hidden under a good name that they exploit on to get to the wealthy. Rose felt trap in such a life and wanted to commit suicide one night. Jack saw it and manage to prevent it from happening by persuading Rose. From then on, they grew fonder and fonder with each other and that's when they romantic relationship starts to bloom.

I recalled watching the movie at the comfort of my home in Ipoh with a VCD and I find it to be an okay movie, nothing to shout about like how many went to watch the show many, many more times. Now that I've re-watched the movie and in 3D, I actually like the movie and appreciate it more. But as for watching the movie in 3D, well, I don't think that's very much difference to it as watching it in 2D since the effects of 3D were just mostly some objects to show some depth to the screen. I find watching 3D movies should play on effects more than just the depth of a scene. But since it did heighten my appreciation for the movie, I place it 3.5 stars out of 5.

Well, I find it an ok movie only last time. But now, after seeing it on the big screen, I've grown to appreciate the movie more.

Wonderful review! I was happy to hear that Titanic was going to be released in 3-D. I’ve watched this movie on my Hopper a few times, and 15 years later this movie never gets old. I like being able to start my DVR recording in one room and finish in another. Other great features I enjoy are 250 hours of HD so I can record plenty. I like being able to stream my Blockbuster @ Home feature for the most movies and games. This was a great suggestion from my coworker at DISH.
