Comida Grand Opening

Comida had it's grand opening yesterday night and the place was buzzing with Ferraris and celebrities in an otherwise quiet part of town.

It's located at

D2-G3-1 Solaris Dutamas
No. 1, Jalan Dutamas 1, 50480 Dutamas,
Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan

That's Mooky from One Buck Short. Amazed that he still recognize my face. Used to be in the same college class as him.

When I was there, there was hardly much to eat left and had to wait till they bring out fresh pizzas out.

At the bar area. Red and white wine neatly stacked up.
By the way, it was free food and drinks that night.

Later on, there was a pizza eating competition.

There's even that little guy entering in. haha

And Jules of FlyFM as well.

At the end of the allotted time, none of the three pairs manage to finish their pizza so they brought in a weighing machine to determine the winner.

There were some performance like Joe Flizzow, but I was happily drinking the night away instead so no pictures on that. :P

Takers (2010) Movie Review

Monday, October 25, 2010. That's the night I went for the Takers movie preview.
It was yesterday night and it was a really weird night for me. Went to Brotzeit to get my tickets from Blup Blup team, ate there with a bunch of people from Advertlets and met and say hi to the people from Nuffnang at the cinema entrance. LOL. Anyway, about the movie:

Warning: May contain spoilers in this review.

Gordon Jennings (Idris Elba) leads his band of veteran bank robbers, John Rahway (Paul Walker), A.J (Hayden Christensen), Jake Attica (Michael Ealy) and Jesse Attica (Chris Brown) to a life of luxury with successful heists.
When along comes Ghost (Tip T.I. Harris), a former member of Gordon's team who was arrested 5 years ago but was now a free man. He went back to find his former members and proposes a heist of a lifetime where all they need to do is one last job for the rest of their life.

While they plot on their grand heist, police officer Jack Welles (Matt Dillon) were investigating them and getting closer to catching them.

The day of the grand heist came and although there were some hiccups, they still manage to pull it off successfully. Gordon and his crew thought that the last thing to do were to ride off into the sunset on a private plane. Unfortunately, they discovered that they were setup by Ghost who planned to make off with all the money leaving Gordon and his gang fighting with the Russian mob whom Ghost has agreed to get them half the money if they kill off his former teammates.

I'm not sure about this movie. Its quite a blur to me. Action scenes were a mess and gives me a headache and there's not much variation to the plotline. It just sticks to the original plotline all the way and everything's quite predictable.
However, girls would look at this movie in a rather approving way, LOL. Many had told me of the abundance of yumminess of good looking men in suit in the movie. My other guy friends find it quite ok too. But don't know why, this just doesn't tickle my fancy.

But seeing as to how it might be just me that don't quite like the movie, I'll just put it as 2.5 stars out of 5 stars.

It's October 23rd, 2010 yesterday and the folks of Twitter and Foursquare made a Tweet Up so that a super swarm badge can be achieved.
Tweet Up - A planned meet up in person by people who met on Twitter.
Super swarm badge - In Foursquare application, there are badges awarded to people who do certain things in Foursquare. A super swarm badge would be awarded when there are 250 people check-in to a certain location at a certain time.

The venue chosen for this to happen was the Taman Tun Dr. Ismail (short for TTDI) Community Center

In addition to getting the Super Swarm badge on Foursquare, it's also to promote friendship and unity that is created via Twitter.

There I met Crystal in person for the first time. I've been friends with her on Twitter for about a year back if I'm recall correctly and have never met her in person before. Finally, yesterday was the day it happened!

Anyway, the event started around 4pm and will end at 12am.

There were four areas at the place, the Stage area, the Games area where there are playstation 3s setup for people to play, there's the board and card games area where board games and card games scattered around the center for people to play and finally, the group games area (never saw this area).

I arrived around close to 6pm, which was after Prema Yin's performance. Went to make my mark at the signature wall.

At the front there are reception counters where you register yourself to stand a chance to win something for the lucky draw.

At the Playstation 3 area, there's Rock Band and Pro Evolution Soccer 3 competition ongoing.

There were also some booth set up like Eric Soong's blackberry housing customization

Some stalls set up with food and drinks for you to buy when you're hungry

and as mentioned earlier, board games galore for people to play.

There's even a twister mat to play. haha

And here's April Yim playing Happy Family.

There's a section dedicated to P.Ramlee.

I got my free CD and left. LOL. I chose Paramore. Don't think there's anybody who went to claim their free CD at all. hahaha

All in all, a wholesome family type of setting gathering.
They did it on the same day of Hennessy Artistry happening at Mines convention center, though. Didn't go there cause it's a bit too far for me.
But heard it was awesome. Course it would be. It's such a big place. Just like how they held it at the Bukit Kiara Indoor Arena which was fabulous.

Takers (2010) Movie Preview

1) You find an unmarked envelope with $500 on the street. You...
Take the money and run.

2) You hear screaming coming from the closest alley. You...
Threaten the trouble-maker with a glimpse of your weapon.

3) When face-to-face with a cross-town rival, you...
Already have a plan worked out with your guys.

4) In a late-night heist situation, you...
Sit back and watch as your crew does the dirty work.

5) You overhear someone asking about the price of a fine painting. You...
Listen intently and devise a plan for making it yours in due time

6) On a date with your significant other, you...
Sneak some extra rolls in your jacket pocket for later

7) In school growing up, you...
Were the teacher's pet.

Those were the questions asked at the Takers movie official site's quiz at and the answers I picked. And the result I got was this:

LOL. Interesting.

As you can see above at the picture, I'm the "Leader". This role is played by Idris Elba in the movie where he takes on as Gordon Jennings.
The brains, the planner, the guy who makes things happen. I'm sure I'll love to see him come up with the strategies on how to make his heists successful and how he utilizes his men by maximizing their talents while covering their weakness.

Anyway, on the 25 October, 2010, there will be a preview screening of the movie at GSC Mid Valley at 9pm. This is courtesy of Sirens Media and Sony Pictures.

A little synopsis about the movie:
TAKERS takes you into the world of a notorious group of criminals (Idris Elba, Paul Walker, T.I., Chris Brown, Hayden Christensen and Michael Ealy) who continue to baffle police by pulling off perfectly executed bank robberies. They are in and out like clockwork, leaving no evidence behind and laying low between heists. But when they attempt to pull off one last job with more money at stake than ever before, the crew may find their plans interrupted by a hardened detective (Matt Dillon) who is hell-bent on solving the case.

So tell me, are you in or are you out?
Take on the quiz at the site and see who you turn out to be. :)

Life As We Know It (2010) Review

Yesterday was the preview screening of the movie Life As We Know It.

Holly Berenson (Katherine Heigl) owns a small bakery in Atlanta. Eric Messer (Josh Duhamel) is a soon-to-be technical sports director. They knew each other because their friends married each other. (Am I confusing you?) Their friends had a beautiful baby daughter named Sophie (played by Alexis, Brynn and Brooke Clagett for the younger part and Brooke and Kiley Liddell for the older part).
One day, their friends were involved in a fatal car accident. During the visitation of their friends' lawyer, they were shocked to learn that their friends has named both of them as the guardian and caretaker of Sophie should anything happened to them.

Hesitant in the beginning, Holly and Messer took on the challenge to raise the child as if it were their own even though they have no idea how to do so.

This story is about how they strive in raising up Sophie through their many challenges while juggling their rising successful careers.

This movie is in the romantic comedy genre but somehow to me, it's more of a drama than a comedy genre because the comedy element is overshadowed by the story itself. There's not much acting comedy in it but more of spoken jokes throughout the movie which I do find some drama shows do that and this fits that category.
Nonetheless, it's a pretty decent watch since there's not many good movies out nowadays.

I give it 3 stars out of 5.

Shout! Awards 2010 Nomination Party

Last night, I went to this place for an exclusive party thanks to Fly FM:

Neutral Club, KL, next to Grand Modesto's. It's my first time here so I take a peek around 1st.

It's a very small place I must say and it Modesto's.

Shout! Awards, ya!

I was there around 7.15pm-ish. Haven't had my dinner so I was waiting to pounce on the the food buffet.
Good thing they served some pizzas for finger food before they opened up the food buffet.

I would say the media people were the 1st in line to queue for food. LOL. The artistes were still mingling around and some said they were already full.

They were serving the kinda food similar to the Astro B.yond launch. Heck, that's because that's also Modesto's, but in Sri Hartamas!
Spaghetti Oglio, Caesar Salad, Potato Salad, the only difference is there's no sausages or any pork meat served this time around (it has to be halal for Muslims for this event).

The show started off with a bang, bang of drums from a percussion display with some dancers (sadly missed it due to being distracted).

Then they introduced 8TV's General Manager, Ms. Lam Swee Kim on stage for an opening speech.

After that, it's time to get on introducing the first category of nominees, TV & Film Category.
