Step Up 3D (2010) Review

Do you know this song "Club Can't Handle Me" by Flo Rider featuring David Guetta?
I love this song. It's taken from the movie Step Up 3.

And I was invited to catch the preview screening of it yesterday night, August 25, 2010 at Tropicana City Mall.

Step Up 3D was regarding a kid named Robert Alexander III, nicknamed Moose (played by Adam G. Sevani) who when starting his new college life in New York City together with his best friend, Camille Gage (Alyson Stoner) stumbled upon a dance battle in the street. While being among the audience watching, the Samurai dance crew leader, Julien (Joe Slaughter), challenged Moose to respond to his moves.

Out of the spur of the moment, Moose wing up something and that turned into the beginning of him being a part of the dance crew called Pirates led by Luke (played by Rick Malambri) where together they strive to achieve to become champions of the World Jam competition in order to win the money that saves the Pirates place where they call home.

Moose was reignited in his passion for dance but was unintentionally ignoring his best buddy, Camille. Luke has his own set of problems when he learns of Natalie (Sharni Vinson) a new dancer whom he has taken in turns out to be the sister of his rival dance crew Samurai and intending to sabotage them.

Dance movies were not my interest last time.
I was already a working adult back then who watches DVD movies on the computer to keep me entertain. That's when I 1st stumbled upon a dance movie called You Got Served (2004). It gave me a whole new perspective about dance (back then it wasn't that big a thing in Malaysia) and I loved the show.

Although there were quite a number of movies that came out that were dance theme, none gave me the impression of what You Got Served did.
For Step Up 3D though, I would say, it has come the closest ever to giving me that same feeling I had when I watched You Got Served. Hence, I give the movie 3.5 stars out of 5.
