Mister Potato Fiesta 2009

It was a Saturday night, on the 19th of December, 2009. At Mist Club in Bangsar, I went for this event:

The Mister Potato Fiesta 2009!!!
Arrived around 6.30pm and went to the registration counter to register.

While awaiting entry into the club, look who came out to say hi!

It's the REAL Mister Potato! From the commercial you see on TV, haha.
And Kwong Fei seems so excited to see him. XD
In addition to him, look who else came out to greet the attendees.

It's the FAKE Mister Potato! A person dressed up in a Mister Potato costume. It was so difficult for the person to walk around in that costume because the person was walking with some really big ass shoes. Like Ronald McDonald kind. Only shorter! And black!

When it was time to enter, we really filled up the place and not long after that, the event started.
It started off with a little game being played.

It was the game of where the emcee would name an item that a person has to find and the first person to bring up the item onto the stage gets a hamper courtesy of Mamee-Double Decker (M) Berhad.
They called out everyone to come forward nearer to the stage and it looked like a farmers convention with the sea of red-up straw hats!

One of the contestant who won a hamper.

And another one. Later off it was a break for dinner, right after a viewing of the TV ad of Mister Potato.

When it commenced after the dinner, it was the showcase of the finalist of the Best Dressed Mister Potato Number One Man where initially, they had to compete with one another through dance to see who will receive the prize money of 5k for the 1st, 3k for 2nd place and 2k for 3rd place.

So they called up the REAL Mister Potato again to lead.

And that's where he strut his stuff in front of the stage (since he's such a large man and the stage couldn't accommodate him moving around too much on stage. XD)

The finalists practicing their moves as they watch Mister Potato doing his thang.

And so, then, it was their turn to shake to the music.

That was the first person up and here's a shot at the 2nd person giving a go.

With his Ah Beng style!

When it comes to this contestant:

the emcee was awfully interested in one of her sexy dance move which he asked her to repeat again and again, haha.

And this little guy:

really can jump around with his back flips, side flips, front flips....he flips a lot.
And here's the last one:

Later on, they called out 3 wildcards to put in the mix as well and changed the rule to winner of the best dance will receive a prize of RM1500 cash while the best dressed will be determined by the judges.

Then, it was time to announce the best dance and it boils down to this two people:

The one who receives the loudest cheers from the audience, will win. And the winner is:

the flipping guy!!!
With that over, there was a performance by our local rock band, Hujan.

After a sound check, they're off rocking!!!

They even did their version of the Mister Potato song (which originally is a song about a cockroach entitled 'La Cucaracha').

And then, it's time to give away the prizes for the best dressed competition and also the blog competition.
Third place goes to....this guy:

2nd place winner:

And the person who walked away with RM5000!!!

And the blogging competition winners in the order of #3:

#2:

#1:

In addition to these, there were also Lucky Draw sessions where they gave away more hampers and some movie tickets.

Rather cool place you've got here. Thanks the author for it. I like such themes and everything that is connected to them. I would like to read more on that blog soon.
