My Top 5 Treat List

Ever get lost in a dense forest or jungle without a compass or any means of communication to get you out of it? Well, I guess most of us haven't experience that, lol.
But going through the working life in our everyday concrete jungle/forest without treats every now and then would well-up a similar feeling......a sense of lost, hopelessness without ever seeing the joy in your life. It is one of the things I do to keep my sanity while maintaining a full-time job which I so find it torturous.

So every year, I would set aside a certain budget to treat myself big time (in addition to smaller treats :P) to keep me smiling again.

And here I would like to share to everyone the top treats that I have given myself.

1) 2003 Japan Trip

It was the most magnificent vacation I had in my life. The magical 2 weeks, when I was in Japan simply captivates me so much that I just felt like living in Japan and never go away again. I even went to lengths of taking the Japanese Language Proficiency Test and looking for jobs in Japan just so that I would have an opportunity to live in Japan and never need to go away again. Till this day, I still am looking for ways to do so.

2) 1MB Broadband Internet Line

Happened way back in 2005 when I first moved in to my apartment in Petaling Jaya, it is a decision that I was thrilled with and am still glad I made that move. With a constant Internet connection, it unleashed the blogger in me and the mahjong addict that I am and also affording me to conveniently search for answers whenever I have a how-to question in mind.

3) Canon Ixus 60

Yes, it's just a digital camera. Yes, there are way many other good camera's out there. But this is my first camera that I bought and the first ever camera I ever owned. Although I'm a shy person and do not like my picture to be taken so much (cause I feel I'm not photogenic and I look horrible in photos -.-) but I like to take pictures of things. Being a timid person as well does not help me in this area but now that I've become bolder, I'm glad that I have a digital camera with me to spice up my blog more whenever I go for events or outing with friends. Truly no regrets on this.

4) Samsung U600 Mobile Phone.

It's slim, it's slick and it's stylish. This is the first phone treat ever. All the other mobile phones that I bought were due to the previous ones being stolen or spoiled. So good it was to me that I pre-ordered it even before it came out in Malaysia.

So that was my top treat list that I've given myself throughout the years. This year, I have yet to give a treat to myself. So what'll it be for me this year? It'll certainly be:

5) Dell Inspiron 13 Laptop

Why this, you might ask?
Besides wanting it as my first laptop treat, there are many reasons but I'll list down 3.
5.1) The Sheer Beauty of It!

The rounded edges, the clean lines, it is such a beauty that I'm sure everyone agrees. It comes in three different colors Alpine White, Obsidian Black, and Cherry Red. Designed to inspire, hence the name Inspiron.

5.2) Webcam with Enhanced Wireless Connectivity

With the Dell Webcam Central, you can easily connect with your friends and family and with a connectivity support of up to 802.11n, it's really an easy feat. With the modern advance communication methods available today, there's no need to pay a hefty sum to get connected!

5.3) Hi-def Life Screen

Add in the optional ATI Radeon HD 4350, and you'll have it packed inside it to give you true to life high definition graphics to your LCD TV or projector when you plug in an HDMI connection cable.

This will so deserve to be in my top 5 treat list and you guys can join me in owning a Dell Inspiron 13 Laptop too!

From now until November 10th, 2009, you can use this special coupon code to get RM100 Instant Cash Redemption whenever you purchase a Dell Inspiron 13 Laptop:

Please note again that it's valid till November 10th, 2009 and only available with online purchase or by calling 1800-88-0301 to Dell to purchase a Dell Inspiron 13 Laptop.

Let's all give ourselves a well deserve treat with a Dell Inspiron 13 Laptop. :)

VAMP At Zouk!

Halloween is just around the corner and lots of places are doing an event on it.
For Zouk, they're gonna throw a VAMP! What's a VAMP?
It's short for:
V - Vampires
A - And
M - Monsters
P - Party!
and it's gonna be one 'hell' of a night (pun intended).

Instead of your usual sections in Zouk, it'll all be re-'vamp'ed to have a 'hell'-o-win theme (pun intended again XD)

With DJ Leonard 'Drac' T and Terence 'The Wolf' C spinning music from the electro/house genre.
Ghouls and freaks will party all night long to the beat.

With the sounds of R&B and hip hop spinning here by DJ “DR JEKYL” LUQE and DJ RAY “MR. HYDE” ROX, it'll surely be entertaining.

DJ ALEX, UNCLE FESTER and DJ PIETRO, LURCH will spin retro sounds from the 90's with pop added into it.

BARSONIC will have the TOONTOWN HORRORS theme.
Over here, the DJs spinning will be Goldfish, Blink, Xu. Also featuring Lapsap. So it's gonna be hot all the way!!!

ARISTO, the cool plush room will turn into THE FREAKS BOUTIQUE theme.
DJ D and DJ C will be on the turntables also Shazz 'The Count' M.

So all this happening this Saturday, October 31, 2009 (Halloween) starting at around 10pm.

The entry rates are RM58 for the Ladies and RM68 for the Men to access all the sections (inclusive of 1 drink).
If you prefer to only access Zouk and Barsonic, the price would be RM28 for ladies and RM38 for men.
If you're going to open a bottle, it'll be RM439. This admits entry of 4 person.

But wait.... get this. If you come in a fancy dress you entry would be FREE. Yes FREE and that's not all. The best fancy dress of all would win RM1000!!! That's a pretty good deal to come dress like a dead person. lol
If you already look like a monster, just come as yourself. hahaha

Law Abiding Citizen Review

The screenplay of Kurt Wimmer's excellent storyline and superb acting by Gerard Butler makes this a really good movie to see.

The story set in Philadelphia, stars Gerard Butler as Clyde Shelton, a man who's wife and daughter was killed in a home invasion. Although the convicts Clarence Darby (played by Christian Stolte) and Rupert Ames (played by Josh Stewart) were caught and charged, the attorney of Shelton had to make a deal with one of them to testify against the other in exchange for a lighter sentence.

10 years past and Rupert Ames is being executed by a combination of lethal chemical. Instead of a peaceful execution, he suffered an agonizing death due to the chemicals being switched. The evidence was framed towards Clarence Darby where the cops traced him down and attempted to arrest him. But an unknown "accomplice" helped him escaped. Later on, it turned out to be Clyde Shelton where he captures Clarence and tortures him. He calmly succumbs to his arrest and admits to his crime. But he manages to bargain his way around.

Later on, although in prison, he masterminded a series of murders on key personnel on the justice system and Nick Rice (played by Jamie Foxx) who was the attorney for Clyde for the trial on Clyde's family murder, had to figure out how to stop him before it's too late.

The movie was entertaining and kinda reminds me of the movie Beyond A Reasonable Doubt, which I very much enjoyed. The plotline was superb and the actors really played their role well.

I give this movie 3.5 stars out of 5. :)

Whiteout (2009) Movie Review

About a week back, I went for the movie premiere screening of Whiteout. I really don't know what to say about this movie because even after watching the whole entire movie, the plot is still quite a blur to me.

The story is about a US Marshall who somehow due to some past bad experience during her earlier days decided to take a post as US Marshall in the most secluded place ever to be a cop, the Antarctica. The plan was to escape it all, to have peace and quiet and not have any hustle and bustle with murderers running rampant and many crimes being committed like in a city life.

Then pops up a murder case right out of nowhere, the first homicide in the Antarctica. What's worse was that the US Marshall (who by the way is named Carrie Stetko played by Kate Beckinsale) had to solve it in a limited amount of time since an Antarctica Whiteout is coming, a very big blizzard and if she doesn't do it in time, she'll be stuck in the Antarctica for six months during the shutdown of the camp.

Frankly speaking this movie really puzzles me a lot. The starting part of the story leaves me completely clueless, unknown of what on earth is happening until almost to the middle of the story. It was only then that I had the slightest inkling of what was going on.

Not knowing what is happening at the beginning kinda make it a bore to watch. Even more disappointing was the action scenes (of course it's not much since it's not an action movie). You can hardly see a thing at all and with all the camera movements trying to portray the intensity of the action sequence, it really just gives me a headache and would've saved me the pain without showing the action scenes at all.

The ending was not much also, it's kinda boring to me. I guess the best part of the movie was the plotline itself. It's an average plotline nevertheless it's the best thing in the movie.

For me I would rate this movie 2 stars out of 5.

Busy and Hectic Weeks

Came back from Penang in the wee hours of this morning and I had to say that making the movie for my Nescafe Script "A Dam-Cell In Distress" was real fun. Now left the editing part and the SFX ad-lib. I'll post some photos on the escapade in Penang at a later date.

So tired this morning that I look as if I'm drunk. Gotta rest and gain back my equilibrium and strength to get through work. It's such a chore and such a bore.

Also am getting ready to go to Singapore for the Nuffnang Asia Pacific Blog Awards. Preparing and planning all the necessary things since I have such a short period of time left.

Nescafe Chill Lah Top 20 Scripts

Dear all supporters of mine.
I'd like to say a big

for help voting for my Nescafe Chill Lah script entitled "A Dam-Cell In Distress". I'm pleased to inform everyone that I have made it to the Top 20 scripts and will be hard at work making the movie starting today (since it's already past midnight). Such a short period of time has been given and with these two weeks pack with work and events, it'll surely be a challenge to me.
Nevertheless, I will collaborate with my friends to produce a movie worth watching (hopefully).

So when the video is up for voting, it is most crucial to obtain everybody's help in making my video a winner. I truly appreciate everyone's vote and some of you may have even already receive some form of token of my appreciation. :)
Thank you once again, people.

For those going to Singapore for the Blog Awards next week, see you guys there!

Indulge In the Uniquely Singapore Experience

When I was a little kid, I always look forward to the year end school holidays. Not only because it's the longest school holiday of the year, but it's also the time where my family takes a vacation together. There was a period of time where I always get extremely excited during that time of the year for my parents had decided to make a trip to Singapore a yearly event.

Sadly, after the gap difference of currency between Malaysia and Singapore widens, my parents had decided to stop going to Singapore anymore.
Being deprived of the rich blend of culture, cuisine, arts and architecture, I look back at old photos and immerse myself again to the nostalgic feel of how Singapore was (of course now it would look way better and had improved tremendously).

Although I was really young back then and wouldn't remember where all the places that I visited was, but I remembered truly enjoying myself with my family be it watching pagodas, being in the Singapore zoological gardens or the Science centre.

And what better day to be back in the Lion City, Singapore then this coming 23rd October 2009, where The First Nuffnang Asia Pacific Blog Awards will be held.

Bloggers will be clamoring for the following awards:
# Best Hidden Gem
# Best Original Blog Design
# Best Blog Shop
# Most Influential Blog
# Best Travel Blog
# Best Fashion Blog
# Best Geek Blog
# Best Celebrity Blog
# Best Entertainment Blog
# Best Food Blog
# Best Parenting Blog

The nominees are set and the winners are getting voted and ready to be announced on the day of the award ceremony.

Truth be told, if I were to plan up a one day itinerary to roam around Singapore, I wouldn't know how or where to start for I haven't been to Singapore for such a long time. And so I called for help:

This cool website tells you what events will be happening in Singapore and at what date and time, have hotel & flight reservation and a cool itinerary planner where all the suggested places of interests will appear on it.

I then spotted something that I feel I would really enjoy going to, Sentosa Island. I remember the vague and sweet memories that gives me a fun sensation inside everytime I hear the word Sentosa. So I digged up places in Sentosa that I would love to go to.

To start off my day, I feel like having dim sum for breakfast and I heard Red Star Restaurant is famous for it.
Be it the chee cheong fun

or the egg tart and things like that. :)

Then it's off to Sentosa Island for a fun time~~
Would very much like to take the cable car ride to Sentosa Island just like I did when I was young but heard it's closed for upgrade at the moment :(

First off, I would very much wanna go to the Tiger Sky Tower to see a panoramic view of Singapore.

Formerly known as the Carlsberg Sky Tower, it stands at 360 feet and being the highest observation point in Singapore. I'd be so glad to add to my collection of tower observation points, first being the Malaysia's KL Tower and Twin Tower (Twin Tower not really counted since you can't get a panoramic view of the city anyway from the observation bridge), 2nd is the Tokyo Tower and 3rd the Oriental Pearl Tower in Shanghai.

Next up in line, I would surely wanna go to Singapore's Underwater World.

Bringing the Oceans to you. haha.
I remembered that this is the first Underwater World I've ever been to but could never remember anything about it because me being so young and I couldn't find any photos about it.
The other Underwater World I've been to was the one in Langkawi, Malaysia when they newly opened.

What I find interesting about Singapore's Underwater World is it's Dolphin Lagoon and also you get to swim with them. Not only you get to swim with dolphins, but in this place, you also get to dive with sharks and dugongs (a type of large marine mammal, something like a sea cow). It'll surely be a cool experience for sure.

For lunch, I would certainly like to try Si Bon, a boutique restaurant with killer ambiance (ooh, I just made a catchy catch phrase. lol)

The restaurant is located in the oldest chapel in the island, enhancing the environment. What they serve here in the Restaurant is called Kushikatsu, which is a skewered Japanese cuisine, very rare to find this out of Japan and certainly not in Malaysia.

To continue on with my funness krrunch-ness around Sentosa, I'd like to revisit an old friend of mine..........The Merlion.

A long standing symbol of Singapore, just mentioning of the Merlion and everyone will associate it with Singapore.

When nightfalls, I would surely wanna catch Songs of the Sea.

I remember when I was a kid, I love watching the Musical Fountain and it calms and soothes me whenever the music and lights comes on where the waters dance along with it.

To end the perfect day at Singapore, instead of going to nightclubs and party, I would surely love to have my own private party at Tanjong Beach. It'll surely rock to have my own party with friends. Even more so at a beach!

I guess this will be the dream 1-day at Singapore. Just talking about it gets me excited! Surely is difficult to cram all attraction and activities in 1 day when there are tons to see and do there.
But of course, it won't be complete without my family. Certainly will be super fantastic to relive our Singapore adventures as a family again. :)

I've made a montage of images on Singapore with one of my favorite song of all time, Corrinne May's 'Everything In It's Time'.

DiGi D'Ultimate Birthday Bash

It was a Saturday Night. The date was October 3rd, 2009.
The venue:

Bar Celona, Sunway Pyramid.

The Event:

DiGi's D'Ultimate Birthday Bash!!!!
Actually, I don't have much to say about this event. Somehow, I dunno why, it's probably just me but I feel that the event is a bit boring for me. Maybe I'm still tingling with excitement from the Arthur's Day event, hehe.

To me lah, the main highlight is actually the free flow of beer. But was really frustrating to see the bar super packed with people crowding the one place they pour beer and the one place where they pour vodka. No chance of even getting near it. I so regretted not sitting at the bar where I could easily access the booze.

Another highlight to me, the free food:

Curry Chicken.

Fried noodles (bihun).

Fried chicken wings on the left and Calamari on the right (seems that calamari is being snapped up pretty fast!).

Hors d'Ĺ“uvres.

The goody bags at the entrance waiting to be given out.

Photo taking session.

The crowd at the entrance.

Started off with some fancy drums and cymbals performance.

With some slick dancing going on in the front.

Liang & Hunny Madu, the MCs.

Some games commenced after that where you get to win prizes.
Later on Hunny Madu had a performance and Friendz next up, then Liang gave a performance too. Followed by more games with prizes giveaway.
